On 18th October 2024, SWISS UMEF marked a historic milestone by celebrating 40 years of academic excellence. The event, held at the majestic Château d'Aïre, gathered over 200 guests, including alumni, parents, professors, staff members, political figures, business representatives, and many other distinguished guests.
The evening provided an opportunity to revisit the significant stages of SWISS UMEF's evolution—from its humble beginnings to its current status as a leader in higher education. Attendees shared moments of camaraderie and reflection on the institution's achievements while expressing their enthusiasm for the promising future ahead.
Professor Dr Djawed Sangdel, the Director-General of SWISS UMEF and Deputy at the Grand Council, opened the ceremony by celebrating 40 years of excellence in a competitive market. He emphasised that SWISS UMEF is the first and only private institution recognised by the Swiss Confederation, an accomplishment that reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire SWISS UMEF team. Professor Dr Sangdel warmly thanked all staff members, the faculty, and everyone involved for their exceptional contributions.
He affirmed that SWISS UMEF will continue to uphold excellence and persist in continuous improvement. He noted that SWISS UMEF is making history in private higher education in Geneva and will remain a leading institution recognised by Swiss authorities.
In his message to the students, Professor Dr Sangdel stated: "Be creators of value in your fields. Be useful not only to yourselves and your families but also to society at large. You are the primary architects of your success or failure. Take your destiny into your own hands, do not seek excuses, and act beyond your capacities to remain ethical leaders."
Several professors and students also took the floor to express their pride and satisfaction in being part of the SWISS UMEF community.
The event was also highlighted by the graduation ceremony, where our new graduates were honoured and congratulated for their achievements, reaffirming SWISS UMEF's commitment to shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the more than 200 participants who helped make this evening an unforgettable moment. Together, we continue to write the history of SWISS UMEF, looking toward the future with ambition and determination.
