Student orientation evening

The academic year 2020-2021, scheduled to start on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 9 am sharp.


As this is the first day of the academic year, we recommend that you come 15 minutes early.


To introduce you to university life, as well to all the academic and administrative procedures, an information day is scheduled on


Saturday October 3, 2020 at 17h30 at our campus at Château d’Aïre 185-187 route d’Aïre - 1219 Aïre-Geneva


We would like to stress that participation at this information day is mandatory, and that you should be accompanied by your parents, family members, and/or friends (to enable us to properly organise, kindly confirm by email the number of persons accompanying you.)


The agenda of the information evening is as follows:

  • Welcome cocktail;

  • Course schedule, handing in your student card, and other administrative issues;

  • Presentation of the academic year programme;

  • Answer to possible questions;

  • Meeting with faculty and administrative personnel;

  • Meeting with the University President;

  • Visit of the campus.

Required accessories: we recommend that you have the following accessories for use during the academic year:

  • A laptop;

  • For students not residing in Switzerland, and adaptor for Swiss electric plugs;

  • A binder;

  • Writing tools (including paper, Stabilo markers, etc…);

  • Calculator.

Coronavirus COVID-19 situation:

Students must bring masks as well as a disinfectant liquid (hydroalcoholic disinfectant) for hands and general-purpose uses:

  • Carefully and regularly wash your hand with water and liquid soap, or disinfect your hands;

  • Cough and sneeze in a paper handkerchief or inside your elbow;

  • Throw away used paper handkerchiefs in a closed rubbish bin, then wash your hands carefully with water and liquid soap, or with a hydroalcoholic solution;

  • Avoid shaking hands and close contact with other persons (both inside and outside the campus);

  • In case of COVID-19 symptoms, stay home, inform UMEF and have yourself tested;

  • Should you be sick, inform UMEF;

  • In class, during the breaks and outside the university campus, respect the social distance recommendations issued by UMEF.

During the information day, you will receive more information as regards the present sanitary situation, and the possible measures decided by the government.


The management and the faculty are happy to welcome you, with your family, relatives and friends, for this information day which will be the beginning of your academic year.
