Petar Stefanov Stoyanov, né le 25 mai 1952, est un homme politique bulgare qui a été président de la Bulgarie de 1997 à 2002. Membre de l'Union des forces démocratiques (UDF), il était le candidat du parti pour succéder au président sortant Zhelyu Zhelev en 1996. Il a été élu à la présidence en 1996, mais a perdu sa réélection en 2001. Après une brève retraite politique, il est devenu député en 2005, puis président de l'UDF du 1er octobre 2005 au 22 mai 2007. Il a démissionné à la suite de l'élection du Parlement européen en 2007.
Petar Stefanov Stoyanov born 25 May 1952) is a Bulgarian politician who served as President of Bulgaria from 1997 to 2002. A member of the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF), he was the party's nominee to succeed one-term president Zhelyu Zhelev in 1996. He was elected to the Presidency in 1996, but lost his reelection bid in 2001. Following a brief retirement from politics, he became an MP in 2005 and later Chairman of UDF from 1 October 2005 to 22 May 2007. He resigned following the 2007 European Parliament election.
